The DOs and DON'Ts of Your Tachus Modem
Customer Support
July 14, 2023
On the day of your installation, a Tachus technician will place one of our Fiber modems in your home. This modem is what connects your household to our 100% Fiber network, and is what your Wi-Fi equipment will connect to.
If you don’t know very much about your Tachus modem, don’t worry. Here are some basic tips when it comes to connecting to and using our equipment.
The modem we install is a Zhone, and will serve as your Optical Network Terminal (ONT). This device will be a black, relatively flat, rectangular box.
If you’re ever asked by one of our tech support representatives to power cycle your modem, you must first push the On/Off button or unplug your power cord and then wait one minute. Then, push the On/Off button again or plug your power cord back in. Do not do this without talking to a tech support representative, and do not press the reset button.
And if you’re unsure what to do, please let our tech support know so they can walk you through each step. With this in mind, let’s go over a few more "DOs" and "DON'Ts" of your Tachus modem.
DO:
If you’re experiencing problems with your connection, restart your Wi-Fi equipment first.
Contact Tachus before power cycling your Tachus modem, and power cycle it only once you’ve been asked to.
DON’T:
Don’t press the reset button on your Tachus modem. This will erase your equipment’s settings and may require one of our service technicians to come out and fix.
Don’t tamper with your Fiber line or try to relocate your equipment without our assistance. Contact Tachus before doing this.
Don’t try to change your modem’s settings. This can erase our equipment’s settings and may require a field service technician to come out and fix.
If you have any more questions about our equipment or Internet connection, please contact us either on our website or at 832-791-1100.
