Tachus Turns Two

Tachus Community

December 12, 2022

As of November 13, 2020, Tachus is officially two years old. We have grown and accomplished so much in such a short time. You may or may not already be familiar with our history, but we’d like to take a moment to look back and reflect on how far we’ve come.

Tachus was founded on November 13, 2018, by Hal Brumfield and Carter Old with the mission of providing reliable, high-speed fiber Internet with honesty and transparency. Nine months later, on August 20, 2019, we connected our first customer in the Bentwater community on Lake Conroe. Since then, our customer base has grown to surpass 5,000 subscribers, and our network has passed 16,000 homes (and expanding!) in Montgomery County, with Harris County to come shortly. Tachus now proudly serves the regions of Lake Conroe, The Woodlands, and Kingwood. Our customers have access to a network that now spans over 300 miles and contains over 20,000 fiber miles.

As a company, Tachus has grown rapidly. We entered 2019 with just four employees. A year later, Tachus entered 2020 with over 40 employees, and we are about to welcome our 70th member to our 100% Houston-based Tachus team. All of our achievements as your local Internet service provider are possible because of the support from our community. Whether you are receiving our service or are following us online, we are happy to have you as part of the Tachus family, especially during this past year.

Our second year in business has been transformative as we adapted with the rest of the world to face the challenges that came with COVID-19. “Certain aspects of our mission have evolved throughout 2020,” noted Old. “We provide a critical, utility-like service, especially for people having to work from home. ” With countless people either telecommuting for health and safety reasons, or even starting new careers from home after losing their jobs, access to reliable Internet has become more essential than ever. In light of this, Tachus has doubled down on efforts to provide a dependable service while treating customers with respect and honesty. These efforts were behind our decision earlier this year to pass Internet sales tax savings on to customers, in addition to continue offering billing that is transparent and free of annual contracts and hidden fees.

We’re happy to say that these efforts have helped us build a unique relationship with our customers and communities, giving Tachus an unheard-of Net Promoter Score of 91, while most other Internet service providers score in range of slightly negative to single digits. This score, as well as our self-measured customer satisfaction rate of 98%, are among our greatest accomplishments over the past two years. It has been our ultimate goal to be a community partner, and we are honored that our customers have allowed Tachus to become part of their neighborhoods.

Tachus has had a strong first two years, and we are excited for what’s to come. By the end of 2021, we plan to complete the core Woodlands and Kingwood regions, as well as begin offering high-speed fiber Internet to other communities in the greater Houston region. Through it all, we are grateful to have your support. Tachus has big plans for Year Three, and we look forward to the opportunity to continue earning customers’ trust and loyalty.

“I am thrilled to see what Tachus has been able to accomplish in such a short time,” said Brumfield. “Our achievements are a result of having a fantastic team coupled with our amazing customers. It is exciting to see our vision of providing unparalleled Internet service and customer service become a reality. I look forward to continuing this on a much larger scale for many years to come.”
