Community Spotlight: Ronald and Jennifer’s Story

Tachus Community

As Tachus has been installing our 100% Fiber network in Alden Bridge, we’ve started offering Internet service to residents who have been waiting for years for another provider to come to their neighborhood. Two of these residents are Ronald and Jennifer Keichline, Alden Bridge residents who first reserved their address for Tachus in early 2020.

Ronald and Jennifer both work from home. For the two of them, a fast and reliable Internet connection is a must. In addition to that, their family relies on the Internet for many things. “We are a pretty good mix of work from home, gaming, and school—especially homework in the afternoon and evening,” said Ronald. “Lots of video calls and upload/download work-related files.”

Over the last few years, their Internet use has only increased. “We routinely have 3 or 4 family members and friends gaming on weekends and during COVID-19 we were all working and schooling from home,” said Ronald.

Unfortunately, they weren’t getting the service they needed to support their Internet use. “We frequently bumped against our data cap and we routinely noticed a significant slow-down in the evenings,” he said. “It was frustrating to have Netflix pause and buffer frequently in the evenings.”

Their unreliable service was also getting in the way of their work. “I recently gave a presentation for work, and had to use a hotspot in my own home to make sure my connection stayed up,” said Jennifer.

Frustrated with having to keep their entire household’s Internet use under their provider’s data cap, as well as being bogged down by buffering, Ronald and Jennifer were ready to change Internet providers. Unfortunately, there were very few options, and none provided any better service than what they were already receiving. They needed another provider to enter their community if they were going to get the Internet service they needed. Eventually, they learned about Tachus.

“I first heard of you guys about 4 or 5 years ago,” said Ronald. “An ‘IT-guy’ friend of ours who is knowledgeable about such things pointed out that Tachus had Fiber trunks throughout The Woodlands but not yet in the neighborhoods. We claimed our address at that time hoping to show strong interest in gigabit speed Fiber.”

Since reserving their address, Ronald has been an avid supporter and community champion, frequently promoting Tachus to his neighbors and Facebook friends and sharing and engaging with our social media posts.

“I like knowing I’m supporting a local business—or at least one with history and ties to the community. And I’m excited about the lifetime pricing and unlimited data.” Other Alden Bridge residents also got involved. He and fellow Alden Bridge resident, Jim, would often post about how they looked forward to having their service installed, and even joke about offering cookies to the Tachus team if they install their homes early.

For over two years, Ronald and fellow Alden Bridge residents supported Tachus on social media in an effort to help bring 100% Fiber network to their homes as soon as possible. In April, 2022, Ronald and Jennifer had their Tachus service installed. Shortly after, Ronald brought cookies to Tachus’ office.
