Bring TACHUS to Kingwood: Eric's Story
Tachus Community
July 14, 2023
Tachus customers in Kingwood might be familiar with a group on Facebook called “Bring TACHUS to Kingwood”, a page created by residents in an effort to raise community interest in Tachus and bring our blazing-fast service to their area.
As the group’s description states, the page was not created or run by Tachus but by “Kingwood residents who want a reliable option to other providers.” Created in July of 2020, the group now consists of nearly 800 members—some are already active customers while others plan to switch services. Eric Johnston, creator and one of two administrators for the group, had his service installed in March with other Kingwood East residents.
As an IT professional who often works from home, Eric became interested in Tachus when he heard how reliable the service was. "I had heard great things about Tachus' reliability—that they build their networks with redundancy and backup generators." He was also interested in Tachus' local, transparent customer service. "I could immediately tell that the customer service was way beyond what I had gotten with my last provider," he said.

Having lived in the Greentree community in Kingwood for the past fifteen years now, Eric and his wife Meredith only ever had access to one Internet provider—one that didn’t provide the speed, reliability, or customer service that they needed. They needed better provider, and they needed it fast. That’s when he and Tammy Cooney created the Facebook group.
As more people joined the group, Eric took it upon himself to answer members’ questions in order to help them feel more comfortable with switching providers. “I let them know that switching is a lot easier than they think it is,” he said. “If they’re hesitant to switch to Tachus because their Internet and cable are bundled, I tell them they can still switch to Tachus and use streaming services to watch TV. If they're worried about trying a new provider, they can change their service any time because Tachus doesn’t have contracts.”
This has enabled the group to now serve as a forum for current and future customers to share advice on how to make a smooth transition to Tachus from other providers. You’ll also find members share advice on which routers to buy, frequently asked tech support questions, and how to get the most out of their lightning-fast Fiber Internet connection.
Residents who were considering switching to Tachus saw that they were getting support not just from Tachus but from their own neighbors as well, and as the group continued to grow, so did the number of Tachus customers in Kingwood.
